When the Body of Christ is Silent

When the wicked today attack Christianity, the fundamental truth of God, in word or deed, and the body of Christ does not speak, or gives no warning by boldly speaking and testifying of Christ’s grace and truth, this silence becomes a denial to stand for Christ to save the wicked. Our silence places us under the judgement of Christ as we are perpetuating evil like the watchman, priest, and Levite who all failed to act, but if we act, Christ will reward each according to their deeds.

The Wicked:

•    Psalm 31:18 - Let the lying lips be put to silence, which speak insolent things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.

  • Psalm 35:20 - For they do not speak peace, but they devise deceitful matters, against the quiet ones in the land
  • John 10:10 - The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.
  • Romans 1:28-32 - “… God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;  being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.”

The Christ:

  • John 1:1-5 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. (The Eternal Word)
  • John 1:17 - For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ
  • 1 John 5:20 - And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.

Silence does not save lives:

  • Ezekiel 3:18 - When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand. (Failure to be obedient
  • Matthew 10:33 - But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.
  • James 4:17 - Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
  • Matthew 7:21-23 - “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’  (Lawlessness is the active rebellion against Christ through dishonesty)
  • Matthew 25:30 - And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ (Note, the servant is a servant of the Lord!)

The Body of Christ, Boldly speaks:

  • Matthew 10:32 - “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.”
  • Mark 16:15 - And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. (The Creature is everything standing against Christ)
  • Acts 4:20 - For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.”
  • Acts 18:9 - Now the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision, “Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not keep silent; (Silence deters the Holy Spirit)
  • Acts 20:29-31- For I know this that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves.  Therefore watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears. (‘After themselves’ is self-serving)
  • Ephesians 5:11 - And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them(Shine the light on evil)
  • 2 Corinthians 3:12 - Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech.
  • Ephesians 6:19-20 - “And for me, that utterance may be given to me that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
  • Ephesians 3:10 - “…to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places…” (The wisdom of God is to be made know by the Church to the Principalities)

The Reward:

  • Ezekiel 3:19 - Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.
  • Matthew 16:27 - For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.
  • 1 Corinthians 9:17 - For if I do this willingly, I have a reward; but if against my will, I have been entrusted with a stewardship.
  • 2 Timothy 4:8 - Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.
  • James 1:12 - Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. (Loving God Under Trials)

Christians and their Clergy are to boldly proclaim the Word of God in everything that applies to life, whether spiritual or temporal. Whether related to eternal life with Christ or to topics such as taxation, education, tyranny, sexual immorality, politics, military, or any other issue touched in the Bible. It is all biblical and we are God’s vehicle to boldly speak, act, and testify of Christ’s grace and truth to make disciples of the world. Not to do so is to be under judgement of Christ!

Never forget: “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”  Matthew 5:14-16
