Boomeranging Half-Truth’s Concerning Homosexuality

The Washington Post a few years ago claimed Christians are weak, poor, and easy to control. Have we somehow bought into the secular world’s idea of being tolerant, which in their mind keeps Christians silent? Then in our quest to be worldly tolerant of the intolerant, are we able to tell all of God’s truth in the public square? Do we know and trust the power of the word of God or does evil know better than Christians today, the power of the spoken word of God?

Many Christians and their clergy today, when appearing to stand against debauchery in America, use nice lenient words that are not bible based. Most reason, they are being compassionate and loving by softly glossing over the truth and even making excuses for the debauchery. These Christians say things like, “the Bible does not support gay marriage, but love conquers all,” or “God’s love can heal homosexuals, even if they’re born that way.” These kinds of statements convey only part of the truth that some believe is giving hope. This is not hope, it is rationalizing away Gods truth, and substituting our truth, so we think, it is easier to hear. In fact this is false compassion, because wishy-washy altered truth statements keep the hearer from hearing the emphatic biblical truth that can free them from a life of sin. Worse, these half-truths are boomerangs that come back, and are used to revile Christians. We make a terrible mistake, if we think the radical LGBT principles and their allies are not skilled at turning our utterances back on us. They do this by using every wicked means possible to suppress the biblical truth. (Romans 1:18-19 NKJV).

Some Christians may not understand God in His goodness has decided to use humans as His advocates to stand against evil on earth. Our mission, as Christ’s emissaries, is to take His message to the gates of hell, if need be, to emphatically speak God’s truth, so the Holy Spirit can change lives from darkness to light. (Luke 1:79-NKJV). To be God’s advocates we have to know God’s view on homosexuality to stand against it! His view is very clear, it is an abomination, disgrace, and outrage. Paul in Romans 1:24 (TLB), explains God’s certainty, “So God let them go ahead into every sort of sex sin, and do whatever they wanted to—yes, vile and sinful things with each other’s bodies.” Also, in 2 Peter 2:4-7-NKJV it says, “For if God  …turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked.” Additionally, the Christ we say we exemplify was the most intolerant person of homosexual sin who ever walked on earth. (Romans 1:22-32 - Leviticus 18:22) So the question remains: how do we truthfully address homosexual sin and give those in darkness the opportunity to live free of sin and have everlasting life?

We begin by taking courage and speaking the timeless truth of God into darkness, and then become ready for the Holy Spirit to move us to action. Through biblical study we know only the Holy Spirit of God can change people’s hearts and minds! Therefore, we cannot placate the LGBT lifestyle with half-baked truths. This is like telling someone, who is about to commit suicide, “The Bible does not support suicide.” Will this save them?

Next, Christians have to recognize homosexuality is an addictive sin that many will fight to stay in. One reason is because their delusion of self-justification, reinforces itself. In Genesis 19:4-5 NKJV God’s word displays the debasement of their thought process.  “Now before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both old and young, all the people from every quarter, surrounded the house. And they called to Lot and said to him, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may know them carnally.” Carnally means crude sexual bodily pleasures and appetites. Lot even offered them his virgin daughter and they turned him down. The reason is explained in Romans 1:26-27 NKJV, “For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.”

Robert Lopez, a man who used to be a homosexual and is now Christian and married with children, was asked by The Heritage Foundation's Dr. Ryan Anderson to write an essay on “growing up with two moms.” He said through cowardice he did not write the cold hard truth about the homosexual lifestyle. If he would have, the LGBT activists would still besmirch his statements, but God’s unaltered truth would have been told and exposed. People would have heard God’s truth instead of the glossed over half-truth. He said he was trying to speak tolerant words, but unknowingly his words acted like a boomerang. They used his partially true statements to persecute him, and worse God’s absolute truth was never heard. “Instead of being myself, he said, and telling the world what I really thought and knew was the truth, I tiptoed around everything and my words ended up being ambiguous.”

Mr. Lopez opposes the gay lifestyle because it is “horrible and degrading.” “The sex acts between men are unseemly and unfulfilling.  Gay courtship mostly involves mutual admiration based on superficial appearances. Like most gay men, while in the lifestyle, he spent his waking hours trying to have a nice physique. This everyone knows is a ticking time bomb because age makes men pudgy.” He then went on to say “Nobody is really gay.” This is a façade, and part of the radical gay dogma. “God didn’t mean for anyone to be fated to live the life of a gay man and engage in that kind of degrading sex for their whole lives.” He said, “Gay men can come out of every closet save one. They will never admit that what they do for sexual pleasure is a nightmare, and a half farce.”

Mr. Lopez added, “Christians should be matter of fact and totally truthful about the homosexual lifestyle.” They should simply tell the whole truth. Homosexuals say they are proud to be gay, what Christians should talk about is the adverse influence of homosexuality on children, the men, and women in the lifestyle, and the threats against religious liberty along with it being exposed as sin in the Bible.

Mr. Lopez can testify about the effects of being a child with two moms. It was psychologically catastrophic. It drew him into a lifestyle of having sex with many men and feelings of total emptiness. He said, “Christians need to uncouple themselves from the soft religious-ease talk, and speak frankly, like Christ did about sin.” One example of Christ’s frank talk is in Matthew 23:15 NIV, “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when you have succeeded, you make them twice as much a child of hell as you are.”

Can Christians speak the empathic truth in love like Christ? Even if the spoken truth is so revealing that the hearer rejects it because it exposes who they really are? This is like sitting down with a friend who tells us they are committing adultery. Can we tell them the hard biblical truth? Yes we can, because we are asked to truly love others as we love ourselves, and we need to be willing to risk our relationship to reveal the truth of God that can save them. This is true Discipleship in action.

Disciples of Christ know they have to overcome fear to speak God’s truth in love. God’s written truth reveals, “The fear of man brings a snare, but he who trusts in the Lord will be exalted.” (Proverbs 29:25 NASB) Christ confirmed our reward when He said, “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” (Matthew 5:10-12 NKJV)

Mr. Lopez continued saying, “He could go on, and on about the big mistakes that Christians have made in exposing the homosexual life-style, but when we fail to read the Bible dutifully, we lose sight of proportionality as God views it. Through God’s perspective, homosexuality is a huge deal. Sodom stands out as the great symbol of evil and its downfall went hand-in-hand with rampant homosexuality. The first chapter of Paul’s key epistle to the Romans places homosexuality front and center as it discusses the process by which people deceive themselves and become delivered to a depraved mind. Homosexual intercourse was forbidden and vilified for thousands of years because it is too vile to be placed on par with normal sex. Homosexuality coincides with slavery, sex trafficking, prostitution, and pedophilia precisely because gay sex requires at least one party to be damaged and humiliated by sodomy in real time.”

“Only someone who has a dark immoral agenda, or have been brainwashed, forced, paid, or groomed to accept self-harm as pleasure,” such as those who have been emotionally, sexually, or physically abused, “can falsely make the point that homosexual acts are acceptable in any form.”

Therefore, if you are a Christian who thinks your religious discussion standards stipulate that you cannot speak about sin if it is dirty, dangerous, or even political then you should not have a discussion with others about homosexuality. On the other hand, if you are a Disciple who wants to stand for Christ’s truth, you need to believe the power of the Holy Spirit teaches us how, what, and when to speak (1 Corinthians 2:9-13-NKJV). Disciples of Christ speak with our own vocabulary and style what we have learned from the Holy Spirit. The words we speak that the Holy Spirit teaches, convicts those in darkness of the truth of Christ and provides them the opportunity to be reconciled to God. (Hebrews 4:12 NKJV) It is “…by grace we have been saved through faith, and not of ourselves; it is the gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:8 NKJV Paraphrased) “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17 NKJV)

A cautionary truth: Homosexuality is such a grievous sin, it can encompass the totality of a nation. It is an attack against the word of God, family, the Church, and the future of America’s culture. Christians and our clergy, it is up to us to start standing against, and speaking the accurate word of God into the radical homosexual agenda in America today, or we will become like those in Constantinople in 1453. They bid farewell to a culture that “once were civilized, but somehow they ruined themselves.” May God forgive us if we let this happen!
